One glace through the trees, your eyes met hers
A vision of a forgotten world
A swish of her tail and she disappears
Leaving you alone in the forest again

But in that one look, that fleeting glance
Those yellow eyes showed you the world
All the life, all the freedom of the wild
Your heart leapt but you don't know why

So you go back, to your artificial life
Everything seems so pointlessly complex
All the struggles are just so meaningless
Nothing is left, but the call of the wild

You can't stop, you can't deny the wilderness
You can't resist, searching for her elusive smile
You can't stop, looking for boundless freedom
You can't resist, the heart of the wild

Tramping through the woods, dusk is falling fast
Gruelling days of travel, many hard-earned leagues have passed
Still you walk, combing the forest for a sign
You can't believe, when she looks into your eyes

Afraid to move, afraid to do nothing at all
Still she turns, you are just too far behind
You stumble once, it's enough to lose your sight
You run and run, but in the forest you are blind

Out of breath, out of hope and out of life
You fade away, and your dreams become your reality
Are they there, those shadows you've been looking for
Hot breath descends, and your eyes fly open wide

Howl as one, the wild is your world
Run with the pack, your old life is forgotten
Head up high, you meet her for the first time
Now as one, you have the heart of the wild

Like lightning on a rock in a pouring rain
That first spark, just never seemed to blaze
All the promises of the wild are fleeting
Flame is lost, you go your separate ways

You can't stop, you can't deny the wilderness
You can't resist, searching for her elusive smile
You can't stop, looking for boundless freedom
You can't resist, the heart of the wild

One glace through the trees, your eyes meet hers
A vision of a forgotten world
A swish of your tail and you disappear
Leaving her alone in the forest again
